From 2005 to 2010 I spent most of my design efforts focused on digital -- lots of Photoshop and Illustrator, a t-shirt brand for a few years, and website design both for my brand and for an office within Portland State University, where I was attending school (2008-’10).
I moved to Southern California in 2010, and rediscovered Los Angeles, which included an introduction to The Last Bookstore in DTLA. Their entire top story is filled with very old books that were someting like three for one dollar. Already fascinated by the trending fillament bulb, and appreciating the old covers and soft pages of these old books, I decided to spend my free time constructing lamps while not working or in class at university.
With around twenty in circulation, mostly commissioned or given as gifts, these lamps were my first introduction to lighting, a passion I still hold today, though no longer in this form.
